Saco Bravo Waterfall Highlights

Hike through some of the best beaches on Brazil’s Costa Verde to reach Ponta Negra.

On the first day of the hike, after a journey by road to the trailhead, we set off through the Atlantic Forest to the first of the beaches. During the day’s hiking you can take your pick between the beaches of Sono, Antigos and Antiguinhos. Everyone has their personal favourite. Our destination is the car-free fishing village of Ponta Negra where we spend the night.

Cool off in the natural infinity pool at Saco Bravo Waterfall looking out over the sea

This unique natural infinity pool set in the rocky coastline overlooking the sea is a photogenic masterpiece – the undisputed highlight of the Saco Bravo Waterfall hike!

Staying overnight in Ponta Negra means we can be up early and get to the waterfall before the day-hikers arrive!

Enjoy the Caiçara culture of the local fishing communities.

After the hike, the beach at Ponta Negra is the perfect location to relax and hang out with the locals and immerse yourself in the fascinating Caiçara culture of the local fishing communities. Don't forget to try the delicious fresh seafood!

Sitting on the edge of the jungle in one of the most remote parts of the Juatinga Peninsular Eco-reserve Ponta Negra often feels as though it has been forgotten in time. Surrounded by wild and unspoilt Atlantic Forest the local Caiçara fishing people continue to live off the sea.

Reviews

An overnight trip to a fishing village only accessible by foot or boat was exceptional. We were a group of 3 adults and 2 teenagers and we all had a fantastic time. A challenging but do-able hike to get there made the views of the secluded and beautiful beaches feel so much more rewarding. Everyone’s experience will be different, but ours was hard to beat. Our guide was Michael who was such great company, but all of the guides we met were equally as brilliant.
